Ontario Broiler Chicken Hatching Egg Producers Association members and Ontario Hatchery Association members.
The Ontario Broiler Hatching Egg and Chick Commission is a membership group comprised of Ontario Broiler Chicken Hatching Egg Producers Association members and Ontario Hatchery Association members. The formation of the OBHECC was made possible through the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Act.
Breeder Growers raise day old chicks from the primary breeder until they are mature enough to start laying hatching eggs. At about 20 weeks of age, they are moved from the Breeder Grower facility to the Hatching Egg Facility. All facilities are inspected by OBHECC inspectors and adhere to strict Food Safety, Bio-Security and Animal Welfare guidelines.
Hatching Egg Producers produce quality broiler hatching eggs. The Hatching Egg Producers is contracted to ship all of his eggs to a specific hatchery. All facilities are inspected by OBHECC inspectors and adhere to strict Food Safety, Bio-Security and Animal Welfare guidelines.
Hatcheries produce quality chicks from fertilized broiler hatching eggs that they receive from the Hatching Egg Producers. All facilities are inspected by OBHECC inspectors and adhere to strict Food Safety, Bio-Security and Animal Welfare guidelines. Additionally there is strict oversight by CFIA who regularly inspect all facilities.
